Testing roadmap.Make failure useful.
Five validation areas, a six-week plan with exact gates, and the results that would make us redesign or pivot.
01Five test areas
What has to be truebefore we say more.
- 01
Drainage and support
Loaded pots, normal and heavy watering, stability on uneven floors.
- 02
Overflow and blockage
Wet mesh, blocked outlets, leaf litter and soil fines.
- 03
Mosquito exclusion
Only under a protocol defined or reviewed by a qualified partner.
- 04
Plant compatibility
Which plants and soils benefit from wick return, and which do not.
- 05
Care, cost and durability
Cleaning burden, UV exposure, supplier quotes and final unit cost.
02Six-week plan
Three stages.Three gates.
Weeks 1 and 2
Activity
Mosquito-free bench checks using loaded pots, normal watering, heavy watering, wet mesh and blocked outlets.
Gate
Stable support, repeatable drainage, no unintended exposed pools and a safe overflow route.
Weeks 3 and 4
Activity
Observe 10 plant owners using a safe mock-up. Record installation, cleaning concerns, size fit and price response.
Gate
Clear usefulness, manageable care burden and credible interest near the target price.
Weeks 5 and 6
Activity
Seek protocol review from a qualified testing or vector-control partner and speak with two nursery operators.
Gate
Independent exclusion protocol and a quote-based manufacturability path.
03Success language
Failure is useful.Spin is not.
A failed gate triggers a redesign: lower profile, different mesh, a sealed overflow or dropping the wick. Repeated failure on exclusion means a pivot, not a marketing line.
The assembly met the defined test condition.
The assembly exposed water, blocked, leaked, destabilised the pot or created unreasonable cleaning burden.
The method or sample was insufficient. An inconclusive result never becomes a marketing claim.
We do not intentionally breed or attract mosquitoes at home. Drainage and overflow can be bench-tested without mosquitoes. Any exclusion test must follow a protocol defined or reviewed by a qualified partner in an appropriate controlled setting.
